A quick weekend craft project

So this is my second last general practice week, and I also had a 6pm - 3am shift with a locum doctor (basically a doctor who visits you at home after hours), and have been completely knackered. So in the spirit of sharing the crafting love I'm linking you over to Very Purple Person, who not only makes beautiful clothes but has also devised a very simple completely reversible bag with a free downloadable pattern and clear instructions.

The reversible bag took me just over an hour to complete as I added zip pockets to both sides.

If you would like to add zip pockets to your version as well I have a tutorial for them in my Soy Envelope Clutch Tutorial - about halfway down.

Happy Crafting!

Ps. I may post later this weekend on how to make your own DIY fabric labels if I managed to complete my essay on time! Wish me luck.

  1. Your bag looks great!
I made a reversible bag too with zip pockets and mag closure but it was a comedy of errors that took me ALL DAY. Starting with the fact that I couldn't print out her pattern so I traced it onto a roll of parchment paper from the computer screen...the screen slightly enlarged it so the final pattern was about 3 feet tall!

    1. Hi Ellen,

Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I definitely sympathise with the comedy of errors story. I always have days like that but I'm stubborn and try and persist anyways! Normally I try and salvage projects as best I can; I unpick the fabric and keep the zippers if nothing else but sometimes I just throw it away and bury it in my bin. With regards to you other post I can totally understand being worried before cutting into fresh off the bolt fabric. I have a bunch of new hardware that I'm trying to figure out how to use as well, but the Internet definitely helps with ideas.

  2. Hello! I would like to know about the pink fabric you used in this project, I just love it. Is it cotton?
    Thank you :)

    1. Hi Le Jaca,

I'm so sorry for the late reply, some how I've stopped getting email notifications when someone comments so I just saw this. The fabric is in fact a cotton. I bought it online from thousandofbolts.com the fabric is Jungle Fever by Free Spirit (http://www.thousandsofbolts.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&product_ID=54737) @ $4.45/yard.

When I made a bunch of theses bag for a craft market I tried to do one side cotton and one side of a heavier weight fabric such as canvas, however when I did both sides cotton it was sturdy enough as it was.

      Hope it helps,

  3. Generally I don't read article on blogs, but I would like to say that this write-up very pressured me to check out and do so! Your writing style has been surprised me. Thank you, very nice article.
